Introducing CrowdMag's latest feature: Flight Mode. This feature allows users to contribute to scientific research by measuring the magnetic field while traveling the globe. To begin, simply input your travel itinerary into the CrowdMag app and transform your flight into an enlightening scientific endeavor. For a step-by-step guide on conducting magnetic field measurements during flights, visit this comprehensive tutorial: CrowdMag Flight Mode Tutorial.

CrowdMag is an innovative app that enables users to measure the local magnetic field utilizing their smartphones. The data can be displayed graphically or on a map in nanotesla units. Integral components of the magnetic field, such as Z (downward component), H (horizontal intensity), and F (total intensity), can all be measured with CrowdMag. The versatile app can be used for a variety of purposes, from outdoor activities to conducting personal experiments. Additionally, sharing data with NOAA aids in advancing scientists' comprehension of Earth's magnetic field.

Whether you're out for a stroll, jog, or engaging in other outdoor pursuits, CrowdMag facilitates measuring magnetic data along your route and storing it as a "magtivity." Should you upgrade your device, fret not! A backup of your CrowdMag data can be exported and saved on your computer. This safeguard ensures that even after switching phones or performing a reset, you can seamlessly import your backup and resume using CrowdMag without losing any data or progress.

CrowdMag also boasts a magnetic calculator that furnishes information such as magvar (declination), magnetic field dip angle, total magnetic field strength, and other components based on the latest World Magnetic Model (WMM2020). Additional features of CrowdMag include customizing recording frequency and location accuracy, devising personalized magtivities, exporting data via email or Google Drive, examining generalized crowdsourced magnetic data from fellow users, and exploring the unique capabilities of its 3D compass with optional audio output.

Key Features of CrowdMag:

Create custom magnetic activities ("magtivities")

Measure magnetic data during flights

Adjust recording frequency and location accuracy to suit personal preferences

View magnetic data on an interactive Google Map

Graph data in time series line charts

Perform data quality checks against the World Magnetic Model (WMM)

Export data as CSV files

Reset stored data on your device when desired

Opt to share data with NOAA

Access crowdsourced magnetic data from other users

Utilize live magnetic compass for 2D and 3D visuals

Monitor current solar magnetic disturbances

Employ the most current magnetic field model (WMM2020)

Export data via email, Google Drive, or other channels

Create and import backups to preserve progress across various platforms
