CrowdMag is an innovative app that enables users to measure the local magnetic field utilizing their smartphones. The data can be displayed graphically or on a map in nanotesla units. Integral components of the magnetic field, such as Z (downward component), H (horizontal intensity), and F (total intensity), can all be measured with CrowdMag. The versatile app can be used for a variety of purposes, from outdoor activities to conducting personal experiments. Additionally, sharing data with NOAA aids in advancing scientists' comprehension of Earth's magnetic field.

Whether you're out for a stroll, jog, or engaging in other outdoor pursuits, CrowdMag facilitates measuring magnetic data along your route and storing it as a "magtivity." Should you upgrade your device, fret not! A backup of your CrowdMag data can be exported and saved on your computer. This safeguard ensures that even after switching phones or performing a reset, you can seamlessly import your backup and resume using CrowdMag without losing any data or progress.

CrowdMag also boasts a magnetic calculator that furnishes information such as magvar (declination), magnetic field dip angle, total magnetic field strength, and other components based on the latest World Magnetic Model (WMM2020). Additional features of CrowdMag include customizing recording frequency and location accuracy, devising personalized magtivities, exporting data via email or Google Drive, examining generalized crowdsourced magnetic data from fellow users, and exploring the unique capabilities of its 3D compass with optional audio output.
